George Winstons WINTER INTO SPRING is a tribute to the early spring season and was the follow-up to his 1980 album, AUTUMN. This 20th Anniversary Edition of WINTER INTO SPRING includes a new bonus track and sheet music to Reflection on an enhanced disc, which you can print from your computer.
1. January Stars (6:32)
2. February Sea (5:15)
Inspired by the great band The Doors (Ray Manzaerk, Robby Kreiger, John Densmore and the late Jim Morrison).
3. Ocean Waves (O Mar) (7:08)
Composed in 1939 by the great Brazilian composer Dorival Caymmi, of the well known musical Caymmi family. This song, which originally had lyrics, was made into an incredible solo guitar odyssey by the late Brazilian guitarist Bola Sete (Djalma de Andrade) (1923-1987) on his recording OCEAN MEMORIES (on the Samba Moon label, formerly titled OCEAN). Also see Bola’s great recording SHAMBHALA MOON (formerly titled JUNGLE SUITE, and on the Samba Moon label), and the upcoming WINDSPELL (his last recordings before he passed away). For more information on Bola Sete see www.bolasete.com.
4. Reflection (2:40)
5. Rain (10:05)
Inspired by the Montana storms. The middle section is influenced by the work of the great modern composer Steve Reich.
6. Blossom/Meadow 4:0
7. The Venice Dreamer
